Some topics in noncatalytic gas-solid reactions (NCGSR) are lectured for graduate students.
The syllabus in this course are as follows:
- The papers of Wen and Ishida published at 1960-1970 on NCGSR are lectured and unreacted
core shrinking model, volume model and a general model are presented
- Four first chapters of valuable book of "gas solid reactions" by Szekely, Evans and Sohn are studied.
The reactions between a gas and a porous (or non-porous) solid are investigated. The grain model is lectured and
the governing equations are derived in different cases of reaction kinetics control, diffusion control and both
- The Petersen model (1957) is told and followed by random pore model of Bhatia and Perlmutter (1980)
- The crackling core model is presented
- A good review of Ramachandran on NCGSR is investigated
- Different topics in NCGSR are presented by graduate students
